After you leave the restful Mas d’Escattes, you will quickly arrive in the lively centre of Nîmes with its southern atmosphere and its Roman monuments.
Twice a year the Arena and the bodega’s are the centre of a grand festival, the Féria.
The rest of the time you will find many cultural events to provide interesting entertainment for the many guests.
The Mediterranean coastline, the Camargue with its salty lakes and thousands of birds among which beautiful flamingo’s, the surroundings of Uzès with garrigue, wine fields, authentic villages and the Cevennes with its vast woods and sparkling rivers, offer a landscape with lots of variety.
At only 20 minutes from Mas d’Escattes, one finds the beautiful town Uzès and the impressive Roman aquaduct Le Pont du Gard, both worth a visit. Then we have the nearby cities Avignon, Arles and Montpellier, which offer a typical southern atmosphere and monuments from a rich past. And of course we should not forget to mention Nimes itself, with its beautiful Roman monuments and its attractive and lively inner city.
